Here at Wealden Joinery we care deeply about our impact on our environment and local community with the sustainability of both our production and products being paramount to us.

Sustainable Timbers

Here at Wealden Joinery we encourage the use of FSC compliant Timbers. There are many advantages to using these which can not only help our clients but our environment as well.

The use of high sustainability Timbers is a high priority for us. Such timbers as Accoya and Red Grandis have a very quick growth rate allowing for high replanting rates and reducing the need of use of Timbers with limited or endangered availabilities .

Renewable Sources

Unlike PVC and Aluminium items, Timber is a renewable source. All FSC products are provided from responsibly farmed Timbers. Not onl this but there ae many other factors that benefit the use of timber compared to other forms of materials.

Recycling of timber products requires less energy than when recycling plastic or aluminium
the production of timber is a natural process with no toxic chemicals being required to produce.
Timber has the highest thermal insulation properties of any mainstream manufacturing material
Another point to consider is the fact that trees absorb Co2 during the time they are grown
unlike other materials timber can be maintained and also be modified and adapted to change with styles and trends.

Renewable sources of energy used in our workshops.

Solar Energy

We have over 100 Solar panels on the roof of our main building providing a renewable source of electricity which helps power our facilities.

Recycling of waste products.

We endeavour to recycle as much was products as possible throughout our workshop. All offcuts of timber are re-used to heat our workshop and offices. we try to minimise wastage with our sawdust and wood shavings being recycled in to bio fuels in the form or heating briquettes.
