EXTERNAL DOORS

Bespoke wooden external doors to suit every style of home

Since we established in 1994 we have built a reputation in East Sussex for fine craftsmanship and an attention to detail. Over the years we have worked on every style, age and type of property you can imagine. Each time we have created custom-made doors which exactly match our customers’ requirements.

Wooden front doors

A fabulously designed and expertly made wooden front door should be a pleasure to use for many, many years. And it should definitely give you “kerb appeal”!

All our front doors are made-to-measure, ensuring that they perfectly suit your home both in terms of design and fit.

A range of styles are available and we pride ourselves on our attention to detail. As well as the overall look of the door, we’ll work with you to find the best fixtures and fittings to ensure that your new front door meets all your style and security needs.

Wooden back doors

Back doors are often a secondary consideration for homeowners, but, particularly in summer months, you probably use your back door more than your front door. So they really deserve just as much attention.

Our custom-made back doors will provide a sturdy and attractive entrance to your garden, and we can even include a cat flap!

Stable doors

Stable doors are generally associated with period, country properties, however their practicality actually makes them a great option for any home. They allow you to enjoy the outside while still having control over who goes in and out – perfect if you have pets or small children.

While most commonly fitted as back doors, they also make a quirky yet practical choice for a front door.

Bi-fold doors

Wooden bi-fold doors can create a wonderfully open feeling between your home and garden, which is fabulous in the summer months. When the weather’s not so good they still give you a great view of your garden, while keeping you warm and cosy indoors.

Our custom-made wooden bi-fold doors can be designed to suit any style and age of property, whether you are introducing them into your existing home or adding them to an extension project.

Sliding patio doors

Once the preserve of the 1970s, sliding patio doors are seeing a resurgence in popularity.

Things have changed in the intervening decades. Our patio doors now use the latest “lift and slide” mechanisms. When opening a lift and slide patio door, you turn the handle which raises the door up a few millimetres onto rollers. This reduces friction and allows you to pull the door open smoothly and effortlessly. It also means that you can lock the door when it’s just a little open – a great idea if you want a bit of fresh air but need to keep pets or children indoors.

French doors

While bi-fold or patio doors may be the trend for modern properties, for more traditional homes nothing beats a pair of French doors leading out into the garden.

We create bespoke French doors which can be fully or partially glazed, or solid wood for additional strength or privacy. The style of French doors is naturally very classic. We can reflect this in the use of traditional locks and hinges or, if you prefer, employ the latest innovations to ensure that your new wooden French doors are as secure as possible.

Quality woods and finishes

We only use the finest timber when creating our bespoke doors.

For a more traditional look nothing beats European oak and we select from the best prime and super prime, FSC certified timber.

However, oak can be prone to unwanted movement, so where durability and stability are of primary concern, we turn to alternative timbers, such as Red Grandis and Accoya. These modern timbers, which are both FSC certified, withstand rotting, swelling and twisting. They provide an attractive and lower maintenance option.

Our doors can be finished with a natural look, using subtle stains to enhance the wood. Alternatively, they can be painted in a huge range of colours to either blend in with your property or, if you prefer, make a stunning statement.

External doors for listed properties

In Sussex we’re truly spoilt by the large number of listed properties and, over the years, we have had the pleasure to work with many of them.

We fully appreciate both the importance of maintaining the design integrity of these properties, and the restrictions this places upon the owners. We’ll work with you closely to ensure that we deliver external doors which meet both your personal needs and those of your property.
